The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commended Nigerians for their unity of purpose demonstrated in the efforts to rescue the abducted school girls of Government Girls Secondary School, Chibok, by the Boko Haram Islamic insurgents. The ruling party expressed confidence that the nation’s quest to emerge as a stronger and prosperous country could only be attained with with such support across board. In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by it’s National Publicity Secretary, Mr. Olisa Metuh,  PDP said the demands of Nigerians for serious action on the abducted girls in the past weeks had ignited global response on the issue. The party noted that, Nigerians did not only demonstrate unity of purpose, but boldness and determination to move forward as a people, adding that the move had added some tonic to government’s determination to stamp out terrorism in the country. Metuh said the determination exhibited was critical to rescue the country from the threat of terrorism and other vices. “It is clear that once we are united in all our affairs, the country’s quest to emerge stronger and ultimately take its rightful place among the comity of nations will be guaranteed,” he stated. Adding: “We in the PDP believe that the interest of the nation is paramount. Our unity as a nation and the welfare of all our people remain non-negotiable.” “The party will continue to ensure that our determination to live in peace as one people under God is not undermined in anyway.’’ The party urged Nigerians to continue to unite and speak up clearly and boldly against terrorism in the country.
