By Nuel Suji – After what was considered an emergency meeting on Tuesday with recuperating president Muhammadu Buhari, in London, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo is back in Nigeria.

Osinbajo returned to the country in the early hours of today and is set to preside over the Federal Executive Council Meeting (FEC) which kicks off at 11.00 am.

Special Assistant to the Acting President on Media, Mr Laolu Akande made this known in a tweet, indicating that both President Buhari and Osinbajo had some good discussions in London.

According to findings, President Buhari had sent for the Acting President, just as his visit to London took Nigerians by surprise.

Osinbajo’s visit to Buhari came on the heels of intense power play within the corridors of power amid threat by the Senate to impose some measures against him on the issue of the Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) Ibrahim Magu.

The Senate last week issued a threat to move against Osinbajo in the event of his insistence on allowing Magu to remain as head of the EFCC against its resolution that he should be dropped.

Responding through the Governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El’Rufai, the Acting President had insisted that Magu will remain the Chairman of EFCC as long as President Buhari remains in the saddle.

The public image of the Senate has, however, continued to drop on general impression that the leadership under Senator Bukola Saraki has been biting more than it could chew with attempt to muzzle the power of the executive arm.

It remains to be seen what Measure Osinbajo would be making to pull together the visibly fragmented Cabinet of President Buhari amid attempts by members of the so called Cabal to usurp the presidential power on behalf of Buhari at the expense of the Acting President who is expected to be in charge.

However, wife of President Buhari, Aisha, earlier in the week had offered a hint of what to expect when her husband returns to the country, contending that very soon, Buhari would ease out those she described as the hyenas and Jackals from his cabinet.
