ONDO/By Dipo Awojobi – As a fallout of the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State, one of the aspirants in the election, Olusola Oke has dumped the party for the Alliance for Democracy (AD).

It would be recalled that Oke lost the election after scoring 583 votes, 52 votes short of Olusegun Abraham, the man who came second, and 86 votes short of Rotimi Akeredolu, the winner of the primary election. Mr Oke’s reason for decamping was to pursue his governorship ambition.

His defection ends days of speculation by his supporters who had been gunning for new platform after the former All Progressives governorship candidate.

Oke had contested to be the state governor in 2012 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He came second after polling 155,961 votes. Ordinarily, he should go through another primary election in his new party, but it is understood the party has offered him automatic ticket to contest the governorship.

Oke told his supporters during a meeting on Saturday, “Having giving me the support to go ahead in this new journey, I hereby declared officially that I have joined the gubernatorial race in pursuant of my ambition to be the governor in the forthcoming governorship election of our dear Ondo state”.
