Okorocha Sacks Information Commissioner, Two Others

By Jackson Udeani – The Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, has announced the sacking of his Commissioner for Information, Vitais Ajumbe.

Mr. Ajumbe was sacked alongside two other aides to the governor, Kelechi Okpalaeke and Justice Odika, Special Advisers on Public Enlightenment and Strategy and Niger Delta Affairs respectively.

A statement issued by the Governor’s Principal Secretary Mr. Pascal Obi, in Owerri on Thursday, said the sack was with immediate effect.

Meanwhile, the Governor has appointed Pastor Ralp Afoaku as the Director General (DG) of the state-owned media – the Imo Broadcasting Corporation (IBC).

Afoaku took over from Mrs. Esther Obong-Egbuna the former DG, who died three months ago.

Okorocha also appointed Mr. Hilary Opara a Deputy Inspector General of Police (retd) as Special Adviser on Security Matters, while Mr. Ananyo Chukwu was appointed as the Special Adviser on Social Media.

He equally appointed Mr. Evan Enwerem (jnr) as the Transition Committee Chairman for Ikeduru Local Government Area.

The statement advised all those affected to hand over all government property in their possession to the permanent secretaries in their ministries.
