Obasanjo who arrived the State House at about 12.15p.m went straight for the meeting with Buhari as soon as he arrived.

The former President declined to comment on why he was at the Presidential Villa after the meeting which held at the heels of Buhari’s meeting with former President Goodluck Jonathan.

President Muhammadu Buhari had held a closed door meeting with Jonathan in his official residence at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The meeting which took place late Thursday, came shortly after Jonathan’s return from abroad.

Although, it was not clear why Jonathan was at the State House, there are speculations that it might not be unconnected with the current spate of attack by militants in the Niger Delta that have crippled oil production and exploration activities in the area.

Lately, a new militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers, had carried out bombing of oil and gas facilities belonging to Shell, NNPC and Chevron.

Jonathan just returned from Côte d’Ivoire after which he left his Otueke home town in Bayelsa State, to keep date with President Buhari.

The Militants have been persistent in their attacks. Two different oil facilities were attacked Friday night, beside several others that have been touched in Delta and Bayelsa States recently.

The offensives have affected the production capacity of most of the oil multinationals, forcing them to declare De Manjure – state of emergency, to meet up with their production demands.

The ruthless militants have vowed in their Twitter handle @NDAvengers to continue with their offensives until the country’s oil production declined to zero.
