A multiple suicide bomb attacks occurred Saturday in 3 locations in Borno state, Baga Motor Park, Monday Market and Borno Express Park, in Maiduguri, even as the military vowed to avenge the killings by the insurgents.
The defence authorities said emergency services have been activated as casualty is being determined.
The casualty figure is unclear as at press time.
Defence Spokesman, Major General Chris Olukolade, said “the situation is being managed and under control.
“We will avenge the innocent blood, despicable acts of terrorists clinging to straws and set to be exterminated,” the defence authorities stated in a tweet.
A resident of the area Aliyu Musa told Reuters “Men from the anti-bomb squad came a few minutes after the blast to comb the scene, then they started evacuating victims. I saw five mangled bodies being put in vehicles,”
Meanwhile, the military authorities said troops are now conducting mopping operation in Buniyadi andBunigari.
The moves follow earlier successful simultaneous operation in which the troops sacked terrorists from Buniyadi and Bunigari concluded at the early hour of Saturday morning.
