The Defence authorities said its troops have arrested the mastermind of last Sunday’s bombing in Jos, Plateau state, and Tuesday’s suicide blast in Zaria, Kaduna state.
“Troops have arrested a mastermind of the Jos & Zaria bombing at a checkpoint in Gombe,” the defence headquarters said in a tweet on Wednesday.
Details of the arrested suspect is yet unknown, the defence authorities said the arrest followed an operation by a combined team of the military and DSS operatives.
In a renewed attack in the northwest and northcentral and northeast, Boko Haram have killed hundreds of people in its war against the Nigeria state.
Attackers believed to be members of the Boko Haram insurgents had detonated bombs at the Redeemed Christian Church in Jos, Plateau state last Sunday killing 44 people.
Only yesterday, the insurgents attacked a centre where civil servants were carrying out a verification exercise in Zaria in which 26 persons were confirmed dead.
