Labour Party Rep. Member Defects To APC

By Nuel Suji – A member of the House of Representatives from Oyo state, Segun Ogunwuyi, has defected from the Labour Party (LP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mr. Ogunwuyi, representing Ogbomosho/North/South/Orire federal constituency of Oyo state, said he left LP because of division within the party at the national level.

The deputy speaker, Yusuf Lasun, who presided over the plenary on Thursday, read a letter from Mr. Ogunwuyi

He said there are two parallel executives at the national level leading to the factionalization of the party.

Earlier, some members the opposition Peoples Democratic Party have defected to APC. While a member defected from the ruling All Progressives Congress to the PDP.

Mr. Ogunwuyi is the first non-PDP minority party member to defect since the inauguration of the current House in 2015.
