President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday announced the appointment Prof. Rufai Alkali as his new Special Adviser on Political Affairs.
A statement by the Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr Reuben Abati , said the appointment of the former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), is with immediate effect.
The statement described Alkali, who hails from Gombe State as a “Political Scientist, who served as National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and was appointed Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Technology, Minna last year.”
Alkali replaces former political adviser, Mr. Ahmed Gulak who was sacked in April by the president.
The President has also appointed Hajia Baraka Sani as his Senior Special Assistant for Schools Agriculture Programme.
Until her appointment, Sani had served as the Commissioner for Agriculture in Kano state.
