Jonathan Condoles Lar’s Family

Vice president Namadi Sambo yesterday led a federal government  delegation to condoled with the family of late Solomon Lar, describing him  as a father, uncle brother and a leader who  devoted his life to the service of the nation, Africa and the rest of humanity.

Sambo stood in for President Goodluck Jonathan who is currently away in Paris on official duty to pay their respect to the widow Amb Mary Lar and her children in Abuja residence of the late elder statesman.

The late Lar was the pioneer national chairman of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP that came to power in 1999.

The vice president who said that they were there on behalf of President Goodluck Jonathan,  government and people of Nigeria to pay their condolence to the family, described his loss as a great loss not only to the family, but the nation and humanity.

According to him, the nation would miss Lar’s wise counsel, great wisdom and invaluable contributions.

Sambo  prayed for the repose of the soul of the deceased and for God to grant the family the fortitude to bear the loss.

In her response, the widow of the deceased Amb Mary Lar, expressed her delight in having such a high delegation in her home, saying it only demonstrated the high esteem the nation  held her late husband.

According to her, her late husband died with the concern of the nation, saying, His thought was for the well-being of his country and his belief in Nigeria’s greatness.

She thanked the federal government for the grand reception accorded them at the airport when the body of her late husband arrived the country yesterday and expressed her gratitude for the government’s show of concern.

Those in the federal government’s delegation include the Chief of Staff to the President Mike Oghiadomhe, former PDP Chairman Halliru Mohammed, Deputy Chief of Staff Kachallah Abubakar, Special Adviser on Special Duties Senator Isaiah Balat, Amb Hassan Adamu (Wakilin Adamawa), Special Adviser Political  to the President (office of the Vice President) Abba Dabo and Sen Walid Jibril among others.

The delegation was received at the deceased compound by Professor Jerry Gana and the Minister of Water Resources Sarah Ochekpe.
