Ibori Freed From UK Prison, Holds Thanksgiving Session

By Sadiq Umar – Following his release from jail in the United Kingdom, the former Delta State Governor, James Onanafe has held a thanksgiving session in his London home.

Mr. Ibori who has spent 6years of 13-years sentence was freed on Wednesday.

The former governor was jailed in April 17, 2012, by the Southwark Crown Court UK, after pleading guilty to 10- counts of money laundering and conspiracy to defraud.

He was accused in February 2012 and convicted for stealing $250m, the sum belonging to Delta State Government. He admitted to fraud estimated at £50m.

Report however said the ex-convict is already planning to return to Nigeria, while seeking all legal avenues to fight his way back to his country.

The news of his release from prison is said to have generated mixed reactions with many of his supporters eagerly awaiting his return.

Already, the former governor is also said to be making contacts with family members, friends and political associates back home, all advising him to return home.

He is said to be expecting a delegation of family and friends from Nigeria on solidarity with him over his freedom from jail.
