The Oba of Lagos, HRH Rilwan Akiolu has raised an alarm over those he called “sycophants around the President-elect, General Muhammadu Buhari, threatening to expose them when the time comes.

Akiolu, who spoke at the 2,900 days of Governor Babatunde Fashola in office held in Ikeja, Lagos, Nigeria advised Buhari to beware of such people.

“A lot of things have been happening now. Some people have been telling Buhari all sorts of things. Awujale and I have decided to meet Buhari because Lagos and South West states must benefit from the Buhari administration, the Oba said.

Adding: “People, who are now telling Buhari all sorts of things, are sycophants. They did not want Buhari to emerge winner in the election. These people know themselves. When it gets to a stage, I will name them one after the other. I am not afraid of human beings,” he vowed.

Oba Akiolu said however, that he is not a partisan politician, but rather a politician of Iga Iduganran, (his palace).

“I am not afraid of any person or anything. I can only fear God. I am neither afraid of death, but I am not going to die now. When there was a controversy between Tinubu and Fashola, all the elders and monarchs throughout the federation called me to intervene.

“They said I served in the Nigeria Police for 32 years and could not settle conflict between my two sons. In your party, there are people, who are agents of conflict. Such agents would go to my elder son and advise him against making peace with my younger son. The same people would go to my younger son and instigate him against my elderly son.

“But God will never be put to shame. So, I called the two of them separately. I told them they have to listen to me and that if they refused, I will hands off. But to God be the glory, they listened to me.”

Referring to the conflict between former Lagos governor and APC chieftain, Sen. Bola Tinubu, he said: “One of the elders in the party called me aside and advised me to leave him alone. I should let them snatch the party away from him, since that was exactly what he did to Ganiyu Daudu and Jakande. I told him that was not good. I told him God did not like that kind of approach,” he explained.

Akiolu said he is happy today that Fashola had successfully completed his tenure in office, saying that Akinwunmi Ambode would soon be sworn-in as governor, but warned him against revenge.

“The Lord will continue to be with you (Fashola). Ambode will soon take over from Fashola. We should earnestly pray for him. I have told him not to revenge. I told him not to resume office with vengeful heart.

“He should forget the past and move on. Among the people here, there are people, who never wanted Ambode to emerge the Governor of Lagos. Most of you are sycophants. Some of them are blood relations.

“But I told them Ambode was my candidate. All Lagos residents should pray the labour of Tinubu should not be in vain,” the Oba added..
