The Department of States Service,(DSS), has advised Nigerians to disregard any election result, not originally declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), in the coming elections, just as it warned troublemakers to stay off polling unit and collation centres.

The Department also urged Nigerians electorates to go out to exercise their constitutional right by turning up to cast their votes.

In a statement issued in Abuja Thursday by the DSS Spokesperson, Marilyn Ogar, the Security Service Agency said, INEC remains the authentic authority to declare election results after collation.

According to Ogar, “This…therefore is to advice all citizens of Nigeria, election observers and the International community to disregard election results which are not announced by INEC, as INEC remains the only authentic body authorized to do so.”

“Once more, we reiterate our call on all eligible voters to come out and exercise their franchise as security is guaranteed. We also want to seize this opportunity to remind voters to remain vigilant and to warn all those who have no business with the electoral process to keep away from polling units and collation centres.”

Ogar also advised voters to vigilant and pay attention to their environment as they look out for bags and luggage including dustbin and containers, saying, such could be traps to kill voters and mar elections.
