Chinese man, Dep. Gov Aide kidnap in Abia

A Chinese national, identified as Tang Kalu,his wife and one Achilefu, an aide to the former deputy governor of Abia State, have been kidnapped the southeast state of Nigeria.

Tang, who is married to an Abia woman simply identified as Christiana, was abducted at about 9.15 pm he was returning with his wife at Opobo junction in Ogbor Hill area, at gunpoint and forcefully taken to unknown destination.

Tang, and her husband, it was learnt who hail from Amaekpu Item in Bende local government area of Abia state, were returning to their home around 9:30pm, when a Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number KTU 548 AU ash in colour cordoned them off at 7up junction by Umuelede road and ordered them out of the car.

Achilefu, who is said to be the manager to the ex-Abia Deputy Governor’s agricultural farm, was abducted by the gunmen in the evening of same Monday at about 8:30pm at Umudukwu Village along Aba—–Ikot Ekpene highway.

As at the time of this report, the abductors were yet to communicate with families of their victims.

It was further learnt that, one Ifeanyi Ebere Ahukamma, 42, escaped being kidnapped on the same day as he was driving home at 8.30pm on Monday when four armed men, suspected to be kidnappers, allegedly blocked his car and attempted to abduct him.

He reportedly resisted the gunmen before he was shot and wounded in the right leg. The victim was rushed to an hospital in the city where he was said to be receiving treatment.

Cases of kidnappings had been almost non-existent in the state since the Joint
Military Task Force killed Osisikankwu after a three month manhunt for him and his cohorts.
