By Sadiq Umar – President Muhammadu Buhari has designated, former Lagos governor and All Progressive Congress (APC) leader, Bola Ahmed Tinubu to spearhead peace efforts to reconcile aggrieved party members.

In a dramatic move and against wide speculations that Mr. Tinubu himself was not happy with the manner he had been sidelined in APC affairs, the president asked the former Lagos governor to lead consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts for the party.

Mr. Buhari’s directive is contained in a statement by Presidential Spokesman, Garba Shehu, issued on Tuesday.

The statement read: “As part of on-going efforts to improve cohesion within the All Progressives Congress (APC), President Muhammadu Buhari has designated Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu to lead the consultation, reconciliation and confidence building efforts.

“The assignment will involve resolving disagreements among party members, party leadership and political office holders in some states of the Federation.”
