Buhari Appoints Mamora, Bugaje, 44 Others As Non- Career Ambassadors-Designate, Says Nomination Reflects Federal Character, Gender Balance

By Dipo Awojobi – President Muhammadu Buhari has sent the names of 46 persons to the Senate for confirmation as Ambassadors.

The list includes: Usman Bugaje, Yusuf Tugar, Musa Ibeto, Senator Olorunimbe Mamora, Nurudeen Mohammed, Jamila Ahmadu-Suka, Suleiman Hassan, Musa Ibeto and Pauline Talen and 37 others.President Muhammadu Buhari

The President’s letter of nomination was read Thursday at the upper legislative chamber plenary session.

The fresh list of nominees is coming even as the Senate is yet to confirm the 47 career foreign service officers earlier submitted for consideration as Ambassadors by President Buhari.

The Senate had questioned the list earlier submitted on the ground that it did not reflect federal character.

But Presidential spokesman, Garba Shehu stated on Thursday that the President has approved the nomination of 46 non-career Ambassadors-designate.

Shehu explained that the President had earlier appointed 47 career Ambassadors-designate, adding that this second batch completes the list of the President’s nominees, reflecting character and gender consideration.”
