By Nuel Suji – Amid palpable tension at the National Assembly, Senators of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) said that they are waiting for their colleagues to gain entrance to the Senate chamber and impeach Senate President, Bukola Saraki.

Speaking on behalf of the Senators, Ben Murray-Bruce (PDP Bayelsa) said they have already in the foyer of National Assembly right now to see what we happen in the chamber.

It is not clear whether the PDP senator is being sarcastic, knowing that he is one of Mr. Saraki’s staunch supporters.

Mr. Ben Murray-Bruce, said senators have been allowed into the NASS. According to him, “we have been allowed to enter the National Assembly right now, but the chamber of the Senate is locked right now.”

Earlier, men of the Department of State Security (DSS) blocked the entrance of the National Assembly where they prevented staff and lawmakers from gaining access.

Palpable tension enveloped the National Assembly premises as rumours are making the round that the All Progressive Congress (APC) senators were plotting to impeach the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki and his Deputy, Ike Ekweremadu.

Mr. Saraki had summoned a meeting of the principal officers of both chambers of Senate and House of Representatives to address some “pressing issues.”
