BoT Sacks Haliru, Announces Jibrin Acting Chairman

By Nuel Suji – The Board of Trustees (BoT) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has removed its Chairman, Haliru Bello Mohammed, announcing Walid Jibrin, a former senator as his replacement.Haliru Bello

Jibrin who until Wednesday was the Secretary of the BoT will act pending the appointment of a substantive chairman.

Mohammed, a one time minister of Communication and later Defence during the reign of PDP is currently standing trial for his alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms purchase scam.

He was accused of receiving N300million from the immediate past National Security Adviser, Col. Sambo Dasuki, who is also standing trial over the scam.

The decision changing the leadership of the BoT was conveyed by Jibrin at a briefing in Abuja on Wednesday.
