Boko Haram Threatens To Sell Kidnapped Girls

Leader of the Boko Haram Islamic insurgent, Mr. Abubakar Shekau has vowed to sell the abducted school girls seized on April 15 at the Government Girls School in Chibok, Borno state.

In a latest video released and monitored on China Central Television CCTV in Kaduna, Shekau boasted that he would sell the girls in markets. “Allah said I should sell them. I told them western education is forbidden, that they should go and get married, I will sell them in the market,” the Boko Haram leaders said tauntingly.

Shekau who spoke in Hausa which was televised in transcripted English words took responsibility for the abduction of the school girls, saying, I abducted the girls.”

He appeared in a military fatigue with AK-47 rifle in company of two of his members with a station Armoured Personnel Carrier at the background.

The news of the kidnapped girls has sparked wide protest in parts of Nigeria especially Lagos and Abuja as well as abroad in US, Canada and also in UK on Monday.

The protest has put the government of President Goodluck Jonathan under intense pressure and has repeatedly assured that everything is being done to secure the safe release of the girls.
