Army Ambush Boko Haram Terrorists, As Explosive Found Near Ex-Borno Governor’s House

By Sadiq Umar – Troops on Operation LAFIYA DOLE have carried out successful ambush against the Boko Haram terrorists off Damboa-Kubwa road, a location in Borno State, killing one while others escape with gunshot wounds.Nigerian Army in operation

This was even as Army reported that an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) was found adjacent the house of former Borno governor, Malla Kachalla.

The troops dealt decisively with the insurgents, killing one terrorist while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Sani Kukasheka Usman, said move was “in continuation of their clearance operations against the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists in various nooks and crannies of the North East geo-political zone of the country.

“Troops on Operation LAFIYA DOLE last night carried out a successful ambush against Boko Haram terrorists at a crossing point.

“The ambush party decisively dealt with the terrorists riding on bicycles at a crossing point off Damboa-Kubwa road towards Multe village axis. The team killed 1 terrorist, while others escaped with gunshot wounds.

“The troops recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number 565907530 and14 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, a wooden Dane Gun shaped to the resemblance of an AK-47rifle, 1 fabricated double-barrelled pistol and 4 bicycles.

In a related development, earlier this morning, there was a report of a suspected bag containing Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) near ECC premises, which is adjacent to the residence of a former governor of Borno State, Malla Kachalla, along Pompomari bye-pass in Maiduguri.

“The Nigeria Police Explosive Ordnance Device (EOD) team were immediately called while the military provided outer cordon as the team successfully and safely demobilized the IED bag,” Usman said in a statement on Saturday.

Earlier, the Army announced that troops on blocking position in Pulka yesterday Friday 29th July 2016, ambushed and killed 2 fleeing Boko Haram terrorists. It is equally believed one of the terrorists escaped with gunshot wounds.

“The troops also recovered 1 AK-47 rifle with registration number S 77411, a General Purpose Machine Gun (GPMG) with registration number FN 131908, one Motorcycle, 1 Bicycle and 5 Fabrique Nationale (FN) rifle magazines.

“Other items recovered from the terrorists include 1 AK-47 rifle magazine loaded with 28 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition, 67 rounds of 7.62mm linked (NATO) ammunition and Tecno brand of mobile telephone handset with NEXTTEL SIM card, as well as sacks of foodstuffs.

“The troops have continued their routine operations maintaining vigilance to prevent escaping Boko Haram terrorists out of Sambisa forest through that axis.
