APC Suspends Blessing Agbomhere Over Anti-Party Offences

BENIN CITY/By Nuel Suji – The All Progressive Congress, APC, has slammed an indefinite suspension on Mr. Blessing Agbomhere over alleged anti-party activities.

A statement by Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor, Ebomhiana Musa, Mr Agbomhere was alleged to have engaged in conducts capable of embarrassing and ridiculing the party.

He was also accused of “flouting the rules, regulations and decisions of the party as regards conduct of primaries election.

“Absenting himself from meetings to which he was duly invited to clear himself of allegations, which amounted to total disregard for the party executives committee and stake holders.

“Filing an action in court of law against the party and elected officer of the party without exhausting all avenues for redress as provided for in the party’s constitution.”

The letter dated April 5, 2017 and jointly signed by the Chairman, Hon. Zakari Ozizi and other 26 executive members of the APC in Etsako Central Local Government Area conveyed the suspension to the State Chairman of the party in Benin, listing the “sins” of Agbomhere and requested that his suspension from the Ward and the Local Government be upheld by the State Executive of the party.

According to the three-page letter with annexure of queries and suspension letters from his ward and the  resolutions from the 10 ward Chairmen in the Local Government,”  in our emergency meeting at the party secretariat on the 5th April 2017, and going through the various letters of his suspension we received from the ward excos (ward one) and the 10 ward chairmen of the party in Etsako Central Local Government, we hereby resolve and recommend that Mr. Agbomhere Blessing be given indefinite suspension / expulsion from the party”

Copies of the letter were sent to the Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, his Deputy, Rt. Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu and all other elevant party structures, in the state.

The 10 Ward Chairmen of the APC in the Local Government had met April 4, 2017 to affirm the earlier decision of the Ward Executives and caucus held April 3, 2017 suspending Blessing Agbomhere from Ward One.

Blessing Agbomhere contested the primaries election of the APC in Edo State for the 2016 governorship election where the incumbent governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki eventually emerged.

He also contested the primaries for the by-election in January, 2017, the seat vacated in the House of Representatives by the incumbent Deputy Governor of the state, Rt. Hon. Comrade Phillip Shaibu.

Following his loss in the two primaries, Agbomhere has alleged to have embarked on name-calling and making wild allegations against leaders of the party, especially the immediate past governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.  These postings on the social media platforms had irked the party leaders at the ward and local government levels.
