A Pro-Jonathan group, National Unity Group on Monday emerged in the House of Representatives to checkmate what it considered the excesses of the All Progressive Congress (APC), just as it described the recent directives for the lawmakers to frustrate the passage of the budget 2014 and nominees lists as threat to national stability

The APC leadership had last week  directed its members in the National Assembly to block the 2014 budget and the confirmation of the Service Chiefs and ministerial nominees which are pending before the parliament.

The newly formed group, which comprises of members of the DP, Labour, Accord and APGA is led by Bitrus Kaze, PDP Plateau state.

The National Unity Group led by Hon. Bitrus Kaze, PDP member from Plateau, comprises of members of PDP, Accord Party (AP), Labour Party (LP), Democratic People’s Party (DPP) and All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA).

The group frowned at APC’s call for budget and nominee lists blockade, saying it was an unpatriotic call. “These latest directives are a provocation and as far as legislative maneuvers go, they will once again fail,” Rep Kaze said.

“Hence everything must be done to arrest the APC attempt to turn Nigeria into a laughingstock,” he added.

Meanwhile, the senate commenced consideration of the 2014 budget at its committee yesterday. Some APC members were in attendance even as the process when on without an hitch.
