Angry Protesters Storm Plateau Govt House, As Northern CAN Declares 2-Day Mourning

By (News Investigators ) – Hundreds of angry protesters on Wednesday stormed the Plateau State Government House over the recent spate of killings in the state.

The killings which have claimed over 200 lives, according to reports, has attracted local and global condemnations with many calling on the President Muhammadu Buhari to act.

The protesters went round the major streets of Jos before taking their protest to the Government House ray-field to present their grievances to the Governor.

Some of them carried placards with various inscriptions like, “Enough Is Enough”, “Evict the Invaders” among others.

The protest however, turned violent following gunshots inside the Government House as the protesters took over the gates of the Government House.

Earlier, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) Plateau Northern zone has issued directives “to all Christians to sit down at home today and tomorrow (Wednesday and Thursday), No WORK, NO FARM, NO MARKET and mourn over the continuous killings”

CAN in a statement by its Chairman northern zone, Isa Nenman, urged its members to “turn out tomorrow for the massive protest to be led by all our mothers supported by the Youths. Meeting point old airport roundabout 27th June, 2018 9am,” the statement added.
