Ademola Adeleke Wins Osun PDP Primary

By Sadiq Umar – A senator representing Osun west, Ademola Adeleke, has emerged winner of the governorship ticket of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

Mr. Adeleke defeated his closest rival, Akin Ogunbiyi, with 1569 votes while to emerge the flagbearer of the PDP in the September 22 governorship election.

Mr. Ogunbiyi polled 1562 votes, closely following his rival.

Other aspirants that contested in the party primary are Fatai Akinbade and Nathaniel Oke.

Earlier before the contest on Saturday, seven aspirants namely: Adejare Bello, Sunkanmi Akinlabi, Felix Jumoko, Ayoade Adewepo, Adeolu Durotoye, Jide Adeniji and Lere Akogun were withdrew from the race.

Some of the aspirants who withdrew pledged their support for Mr. Ogunbiyi while Adeleke also received the backing of a couple of them.

Chairman of the Osun PDP governorship and Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson, said the winner will flag the party’s flag in the September 22, 2018 governorship election in Osun state.
