Abubakar, Sultan, Others In “Interventionist” Meeting With Buhari

Former Military Head of State and a member of the National Peace Committee for the 2015 general elections, Gen. Abdusalami Abubakar (retd.), is leading other committee members in a closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at Presidential Villa, FCT Abuja.

Although, agenda for the meeting is not immediately known, inside sources described the parley as “interventionist.”

Buhari had in recent weeks taken measures aimed at combating corruption and recovering stolen funds especially by officials of the past administration.

The Abubakar led Peace Committee was the body that broker the peace accord between President Goodluck Jonathan and Buhari prior to the general elections last year.

Also present at the meeting are the Sultan of Sokoto, Muhammadu Sa’Ad Abubakar III; President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor; Primate of the Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion, Most Revd. Nicholas Okoh; Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, Cardinal John Onaiyekan; one time President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Mrs. Priscilla Kuye and former Special Adviser to the immediate past President Goodluck Jonathan on Inter-Party Affairs, Senator Ben Obi and others.

Others were Justice Rose Ukeje (rtd); Prof Ameze Guobadia; Vanguard Newspaper Publisher, Sam Amuka; Priscilla Kuye, Senator Ben Obi; Yunusa Tanko, and Arthur-Martin Aginam.

The meeting is coming on the heels of earlier closed door meeting between former President Jonathan and Buhari last Thursday.

Also, former President Olusegun Obasanjo also met with Buhari at the State House in Abuja over what sources described as “fence-mending” last Friday.
